Obituary for Paul Arthur Hollingsworth

Paul Arthur Hollingsworth, 63, husband of Charlene Bates Hollingsworth, went from the loving arms of his family into the loving arms of Jesus on October 27, 2017. Paul was born on June 2, 1954, to the late Rev. Arthur and Edna Hollingsworth.

Paul was a Pastor, and at the time of his death was pastoring the Liberty Bible Church of God in Winchester, KY. Paul was also a Funeral Director and an Embalmer for many years. He considered it an honor to serve families in their time of grief. Paul had the gift of compassion and a true servant’s heart.

He cherished his wife of 45 years, and was the most amazing Dad to his three children: Tara (Derek) Hickman, Keri Hollingsworth, and Jonathan (Monée) Hollingsworth. Paul was a proud Poppa who adored his five grandchildren: Lauren Elise, Cameron Lee, Sophia Grace, Reagan Abbott (Hickman), and Maxwell Arthur Hollingsworth. Paul was the rock of his family, and he leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, faithfulness, kindness and gentleness.

In addition to his immediate family, Paul is survived by 6 adoring sisters: Bonnie Kline, Elesha Knox, Enola Davis, Laverna Truitt, Shelba Edens, and Cheryl Sneed, as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss their fun-loving Uncle Paul. He was a devoted and caring son-in-law to Roy Bates, and the late Betty Bates.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, October 29th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Liberty Bible Church of God, 6615 Veterans Memorial Highway, Winchester KY. Celebration of Life service will be Monday, October 30th at 11 a.m., also at the church. The service will be conducted by dear family friends, Rev. Jeff Keaton and Pastor Bill Konstantopoulos.

It was a blessing to Paul to be so well-loved and cared for by some fine young men in his church. It was important to him that these young men be honored for what they meant to him, and also to leave a legacy in their minds and hearts for eternity. To that end, he and the family have asked the following to be Pallbearers: Jeremy Petersen, Tim Riddell, Andrew and Bryce Sargent, Jason Martin, Jordan Gaither, and grandsons Cameron and Reagan Hickman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: beloved physician, Dr. Lee Hicks; treasured friend and colleague, Mike Preston; loving and caring neighbors and friends, Gatewood Woosley and Craig Means; supportive and trusted friend, Fred Pace; lifelong friend since childhood, Dave Coose; caring friend, Pastor Ronn Pelfrey, and infant grandson and namesake Maxwell Arthur Hollingsworth.

The family wishes to thank both Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville, KY, and Scobee Funeral Home of Winchester KY, for their tender care of our Husband and Dad and Poppa, and for working together to honor his life through their service.
