1958 - LEON PACE PURCHASES FUNERAL HOME
The real estate holdings in which the funeral home and undertaking business is located, and the adjoining house on the west side of the property, has been leased by Mr. Pace, who will move to the residence formerly occupied by the late owner. Mr. Pace was graduated from the Kentucky School of Embalming at Louisville in June, 1950 and holds a Kentucky Funeral Directors and Embalmers license. He was born in Clark County and is the son of Mrs. Cora Parrish Pace, Wheeler Avenue, and the late Ed Pace. Mr. Pace graduated from Trapp High School in 1942, and is a veteran of World War II, where he served three years in the U.S. Air Force. He is a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. Mr. Pace married the former Miss Lou Frances Berryman, and they are the parents of two children, Fred Wayne and Elizabeth Ann Pace.
Scobee Funeral Home Inc. was founded July 1, 1921, by Grubbs, Scobee and Bartlett and was known as Grubbs, Scobee & Bartlett Funeral Home. After the death of Mr. Grubbs eight years later, David B. Scobee and Ben Bartlett bought his interest and the business became Scobee & Bartlett Funeral Home. Mr. Scobee purchased Mr. Bartlett's interest in 1941 and it has been the Scobee Funeral Home since. Leon Pace, the current owner, bought the funeral home from Mr. Scobee's estate in 1958.
